Insulation fault location system EDS

The special extra for increasing the reliability of your electrical installations In order to achieve high reliability and to avoid costly shut-down periods of electrical installations, it is necessary to recognize insulation faults at an early stage – before interruption to operation occurs. For this reason, unearthed systems (IT systems) with insulation monitoring are used for the power supply of essential electrical installations and loads. The A-ISOMETER® provides the necessary advance information. Fast localisation and elimination of insulation faults is required by DIN VDE 0100-410 (VDE 0100-410): 2007-06 chapter 411.6.3.1 and IEC 60364-4-41 chapter 413.1.5.4 "It is recommended that a first fault be eliminated with the shortest practivable delay". The EDS system is a modular system ideally suited for this task. There is a variety of application fields for EDS systems.

They are used for main circuits and control circuits for example in power plants, hospitals, shipbuilding, traffic engineering, industrial plants, paper industry, oil and natural gas industry, mining, open-cast mining, rolling mills, mechanical engineering, and in a lot of other sectors.

A-ISOMETER® IRDH575
The A-ISOMETER® of the IRDH575 series monitors the insulation resistance of unearthed power supplies (IT systems). It is suitable for universal use in 3(N)AC, AC/DC and DC systems. AC systems may include extensive DC-supplied loads, such as converters or thyristor-controlled DC drives. The IRDH575, the insulation fault evaluators of the EDS4… series and the appropriate measuring current transformers can be combined to an insulation fault location system.

The insulation fault evaluator of the EDS460/490 series in combination with the A-ISOMETER® IRDH575 or the insulation fault test device PGH is designed to localize insulation faults in unearthed power supplies (IT systems). The test current signals generated by the insulation monitoring device IRDH575 or the insulation fault test device PGH are scanned by measuring current transformers and evaluated by the insulation fault evaluators.
EDS460-L / EDS461-L
The insulation fault evaluator of the EDS460/490 series in combination with the A-ISOMETER® IRDH575 or the insulation fault test device PGH is designed to localize insulation faults in unearthed power supplies (IT systems). The test current signals generated by the insulation monitoring device IRDH575 or the insulation fault test device PGH are scanned by measuring current transformers and evaluated by the insulation fault evaluators.
EDS490-D / EDS491-D

The test current signals generated by the insulation monitoring device IRDH575 or the insulation fault test device PGH are scanned by measuring current transformers and evaluated by the insulation fault evaluators.

The insulation fault test device of the PGH47… series is designed to generate a test current signal for insulation fault location. The variants differ in the value of the maximum permissible test current. It is intended to be used in systems incorporating an insulation monitoring device.

EDS3090
The EDS30… is a portable insulation fault location system designed to locate insulation faults in unearthed systems (IT systems). All essential components are housed in a robust aluminium case which is convenient to carry.
EDS3070
The EDS3070 is a portable system designed to locate insulation faults in unearthed systems (IT systems). Owing to the integrated voltage source it is intended to be used in de-energized systems. The robust aluminium case incorporates an EDS165 insulation fault evaluator, a PGH186 insulation fault test device, different types of current clamps as well as various accessories. Under specified conditions, insulation faults can also be located in earthed systems (TN-S systems).
Coupling device AGE185
The EDS3065 system is designed to monitor and query IT systems of AC, 3(N)AC, 20…575 V and DC 20…504 V. When using the coupling device AGE185, AC IT systems up to 790 V and DC IT systems up to 960 V can be monitored.
Measuring current transformers for EDS systems
Different types of measuring current transformers are available for application in insulation fault location systems EDS470 to meet the requirements of the individual electrical installation. All measuring current transformers listed in the table below are highly sensitive and convert even small residual currents into evaluable signals. The measuring current transformers are connected to the evaluator by two connecting leads. Particular attention shall be paid that all current-carrying leads of the respective subcircuit are passed through the current transformer with the exception of the PE conductor.
W.../W…-8000
Measuring current transformers of the W… and W…-8000 series are highly sensitive measuring current transformers which measure AC currents and convert them into evaluable measurement signals, in combination with residual current monitors and evaluators of the RCM resp. RCMS series.
WR…
The measuring current transformers of the WR… series are highly sensitive measuring current transformers of rectangular type which in combination with residual current monitors and evaluators of the RCM and RCMS series convert AC currents into evaluable measurement signals. In addition, the measuring current transformers can be used in combination with insulation fault location systems (EDS) for IT systems. They are designed to measure the test current generated by a PGH insulation fault test device or an A-ISOMETER® IRDH.
WS.../WS…-8000 (split-core type)
Split-core type measuring current transformers of the WS… and WS…-8000 series can be opened using the interlock knob to enclose the conductors to be monitored. That allows easy retrofitting in existing installations.
Measuring current transformers of the WS… und WS…-8000 series are highly sensitive measuring current transformers of split-core type which in combination with residual current monitors and evaluators of the RCM and RCMS series convert AC currents into evaluable measurement signals.
